Key Stage 3

 

Years 7,8 & 9 known as Key Stage 3, were added in September 2002. Following the National Curriculum for England, subjects include English, French, Mathematics, Geography, History, Sciences, ICT, Design & Technology, Arts, Physical Education and Second Languages. As part of the host country curriculum requirements - Arabic, Islamic Studies and Moral Instruction is also offered.During these years students will develop their abilities to communicate with clarity and confidence. Students will have an increasing understanding of the moral, social and cultural issues of the world through deeper ethical analysis. The development of confident, articulate and socially responsible citizens, with a willingness to serve both the fellow students and the wider community are of utmost importance. As in the Junior School, a selection of extra-curricular activities is offered.We aim to help our students to leave the Cambridge School, Doha with an awareness of tradition, valuing the importance of leadership and world citizenship and having a strong sense of community. We trust that they will all carry with them a vision for the future, becoming productive and worthwhile members of the society.

 

 

Key Stage 4 & 5

 

The Cambridge School, Doha provides for a Cambridge International Examination Board curriculum that offers internationally recognized qualifications allowing access to universities worldwide and provides a consistent record of excellent academic achievement. The educational progress of our younger students is monitored through a mixture of on-going classroom observation and assessment. Parental consultations take place throughout the school year both informally and formally. At age 16 (Year 11) students sit their IGCSE (International General Certificate of Education). This series of examinations usually covers 8-9 subjects which have been selected by the students, in consultation with parents and staff, some two years earlier. English and mathematics are compulsory subjects .The other subjects offered at the TCS are:

Those students opting to remain for the final 2 years of school (Years 12 & 13) can choose to take a further 3 or 4 Advanced and Advanced Subsidiary Level examinations and it is the results of these 'A Levels' which will provide students with the necessary qualifications to enter university if they so wish.

Our students have been taking the IGCSE and AS and A level examinations since 2005. The percentage of students scoring between A - C over the years has increased and we have had some very good results that we can be proud of and we have had some outstanding results with many of our students getting accepted at very prestigious universities in Qatar and other countries. Many of our students are doing Engineering, Medicine, MBA and Studies in Foreign Affairs from universities in Qatar.
